      Mokka Konsorten
      Musik Curation & Branding (2021-2023)

The Berlin-based company Mokka Konsorten, which was founded by Christian Ankowitsch, sells coffees from its own production, as well as coffee accessories. In 2021 the brand is planning to expand its product range, offering books and musical works, in addition to their coffee related products.

I was offered to pitch an idea for a potential vinyl release that could act as a kind of background accentuation to one's daily coffee ritual, curating the music, designing the packaging and coordinating the vinyl production.

First, I presented a number of concepts and their corresponding budgets. Initially, the idea was to capture the soundscapes of historic Viennese coffeehouses, and present these on vinyl. However, I was not allowed to travel to Vienna during the Corona pandemic to make the recordings. Thus in the end, we agreed to focus on experimental ambient artists who came from areas where coffee is grown, yet without over emphasizing this aspect, the project was more about exploring the energy of these places, such as Kenya or Bogota, through the music, and thus highlighting parallels between the character of the coffee and and its unique cultural environment.
